NPA From Negros Arrested in Badian, Said to be Suspects of Cops Ambush

BADIAN — Three armed men suspected to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were arrested in the town of Badian last Wednesday, July 31. Police Regional Office Central Visayas Director Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas that the three men are behind the ambush of four intelligence police officers last July 18 in Guihulngan City, Negros.

The armed men were intercepted in Badian after the Badial Police Station received a report of them arriving from Negros using a pumpboat. This was confirmed by Badian Police Station chief Revelito Tadique.

Earlier today, there was an inquest proceeding for the three arrested suspected NPA members at the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office. During the proceeding, there was a presentation of evidence collected from the suspects such as a two handguns, a revolver, a grenade, two pipe bombs, among other things.

This is the latest update on the spate of killings in Negros. Yesterday, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo announced that President Duterte plans on declaring Martial Law in Negros because of the said killings.
