UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – The official Emirates News Agency reported on Saturday, Feb. 8, that it has two new cases positive for 2019-nCoV, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to seven. One of the patients positive for the virus is a Filipino. This is the second Filipino with the Wuhan coronavirus.
UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention said that both of the patients are now under observation and are receiving medical care. The other patient is Chinese.
The first Filipino to contract the disease is a crew member of the luxury cruise ship Diamond Princess currently quarantined in Yokohama, Japan. It now has 64 confirmed cases from its 3,700 crew and passengers.
There have been three confirmed cases in the Philippines, none of which are Filipino. The first patient is now on her road to recovery while her companion, a 44-year-old Chinese male, has died – the first death outside of China. The third patient has already returned to China.
