CEBU CITY, Philippines – On Tuesday morning, March 10, Cebu Flash Report (CFR) anonymously received a report showing a notice from a motorcycle dealership stating that it takes them 4-5 months to process MC registrations with LTO. Hours after CFR posted the report, LTO-7 Director Victor Caindec has issued show-cause orders to the said dealership and four others in Cebu. The five dealers are Du Ek Sam Inc., Des Marketing Inc., Des Strong Motors, Desmark Corp. and Premio Corp.
In a press conference, Caindec said that the dealers have violated the agency’s rules of accreditation. He explained that dealers should include temporary license plates on sold units before handing them over to their buyers, together with the official receipt and certificate of registration.
Caindec also clarified that it only takes LTO 10 to 15 days to process the registration of new motorcycles given that dealers submit all required documents. This is contrary to the four to five months processing time some dealers claim.
